Training Online Vs. Training Hands-on For Injection of Botox

By Alina Karemin

Botox injections are the more common name for botulinum toxin injections, which are a very popular cosmetic procedure these days. Botox injections are used for evening out fine lines and wrinkles, for muscle manipulation, and it is also widely used in the treatment of other kinds of medical problems nowadays. There are high standards for the training procedures for those who deliver Botox injections, and they are subjected to these in order to be certified. The internet is a great resource for knowledge, and some people are looking to the web to get the certification needed to deliver these treatments.

Is online Botox injection training enough? One could also choose to gain their knowledge in a real world setting. The answer is somewhere between the two options. We will examine this in more detail.

Getting online training

The main advantage of online training is that subject matter can be taught to a person in the comfort of their own home at their own convenience. One can view live seminars and what are called webinars, as well as videos and other kinds of courses that are available online. DVDs are another option, and these are provided by many training courses.

While the above makes online training very appealing, it is important to realize that Botox injections are a hands-on procedure. One must actually try it in person to truly learn the process, all that is required to know can not be gained from simply viewing. For example, one cannot become a dentist by watching videos on how to perform different dental procedures. It takes practice with a doctor present to supervise and give criticism in order to gain the skill needed to do the procedure on one's own.

In-person training

There are several ways to learn hands-on, including the use of a training dummy or a volunteer patient. This form of training is always performed under supervision until the supervisor (usually a physician) is confident that the trainee can perform the procedure independently. Having an expert present during this training means that the process will be learned correctly, and mistakes will be pointed out; this won't happen by training on the internet because criticism is not possible.

The challenge for hands-on training is organizing the required professionals to be present for the process. It's a challenge to find the time for a busy professional to go to a training seminar in order to show trainees the correct procedures. Venues for the training procedures need to be retained, and the necessary time it takes needs to be put aside. However, when we look at this from a wider angle and consider; patient safety and outcome, there is no doubt that hands-on training is by far the better option when compared to online training.

Integrating online training with hands-on training

Utilizing these methods in combination makes the most sense for those who are learning Botox injection treatments. Leaning theory and watching online videos can be done at home, and then a training program that is hands-on can be attended to learn the rest. After viewing and learning from the internet, the trainee can go to the hands-on training with sufficient knowledge to go through the processes much easier. Today, these methods combined are the most effective to train. Furthermore, there are complex animations that can now be easily created explaining different procedures which can prepare trainees regarding what they should expect when they attend a formal hands-on training program for Botox injections.

Synopsis

Both hands-on and online training should be utilized for best results in learning the procedures regarding Botox injections. Each of them have their own advantages and disadvantages but together they can form an excellent and effective training program for future Botox injection providers.
