Let me just start by saying that losing weight by increasing your physical activity does not mean you have to run out and get a gym membership. While there are benefits to using a gym I believe that if you are not yet comfortable in your own skin a gym will not help you to get there. Often time's gyms are filled with people that have already developed their bodies and have achieved their desired weight. They work out at the gym in order to maintain their weight and that is a great thing. For someone that is overweight, or well overweight, this can be intimidating.
Of course there are gyms that cater to women and there are classes for all types of people so I am in no way suggesting that you don't get a membership but I am saying that when you are just getting started you don't need a gym. Once you are where you want to be physically or even pretty close (10-20pounds or 5-10 Kilos) a gym could be just the boost you needed to shed those excess pounds.
Today what I am going to be sharing with you is about losing weight by increasing your physical activity. This of course will depend on your current fitness level but it is my hope that these tips will prove useful and valuable to you on your own personal weight loss journey.
Stretching-If you have been categorized as being "obese" you may not be as physically active as you used to be. Of course this is not the case for everyone but if this describes you stretching is a good way to get your body prepared for more physical activity later down the road. Stretching also helps to wake up your muscles and this will help you to prevent injury.
Walking-Walking instead of driving can be a truly wonderful took to help you lose weight. If you are already walking that is great, you can add to it by walking up stairs. If you are not walking, take baby steps, what I mean by this is start small. Going short distances, parking just a little bit further away from your destination so that the walk to your location is longer, be sure to factor in the additional time as well so you are not late to anything. Once you are walking and it starts to feel easy to you, you can either increase the length of your walks or start to try other physical activities depending on your time schedule.
